I'm Bonnie, though many people know me as Holly Hazel: A multi-award winning, magazine-published international escort and advocate.
Before "retiring" in 2021, I was one of Australia's most highly recognised and highly paid escorts. It wasn't always like that, though.
When I entered the industry 9 years earlier, I spent waaay too long working in a parlour. At the time, I thought I was killing it. I also thought the way management treated me (pressuring me into unsafe situations, punishing me for saying "no," demanding more than a 50% cut, and brainwashing me into thinking I couldn't make money without them) was normal.
News flash: None of these things are normal.
But unfortunately, they are common.
During my decade in the industry, I heard countless stories of escort managers (inside and outside of parlours) operating unethically and exploiting workers. I knew something had to be done, and that a safer alternative needed to be created. And so, The Companion Collective was born, putting the power (and cash) back into the hands of sex workers.
When I broke up with my brothel and started working independently, I had no frickin' idea what I was doing. I made a lot of mistakes and missed out on a lot of money before I learned how to build a thriving brand.
Sadly, escort mentors didn't exist back in those days, so I had to learn the hard way. If I'd known then what I know now, I would've been healthier, happier, and at least half a million dollars richer. Seriously.
Now that I'm no longer seeing clients, it's my absolute pleasure to share my knowledge with other sex workers and support them in maximising their income.
The Companion Collective is incredibly special to me. In many ways, it allows me to be the woman my younger self needed when I started in the industry.
